Mommy’s Little Girl

One thing I love about my job is that I get a brief yet intimate glimpse into peoples lives and their relationships with each other.  I loved having this opportunity to photograph just Nikki and her little girl Emma.  Nikki wanted to capture Emma as she is right now at age 7 as well as the both of them as they are together as mother and daughter.  We all know that eventually our babies will grow up, but I love how a photograph can freeze a moment forever.

Miss Lyssa’s Baby

Miss Lyssa is my son Jack’s preschool teacher.  She is patient, excited about her job, and a truely nice and sincere person.  I should also mention that she is an exceptional teacher!  Jack and the other kids LOVE her.   And Lyssa loves them back!   When we found out that she would be having her first baby we knew it meant she would be gone from the classroom for a period of time.  But that was ok with us, people like Miss Lyssa deserve to be moms!   On one of her last days before giving birth, while Jack was at school playing with a doctor kit he said to her, “Miss Wyssa, come here and let me give you a shot to pop that baby out of you belly!”  She later described it as not being quite that easy, but well worth it all for her and her husband Ken when baby Joel was born.

Thank You Christia

Christia is one of those people who is full of useless fact.  And Christia is also one of those people who is full of very useful facts, such as online groups for babystrollers, how to make your own babyfood, who/what/how they test toys for lead that are Made In China, and most importantly nursing a baby!  Christia was my La Leche League leader back when my babies were babies.  I am not sure what I, or hunderds of other moms would have done without her.  And she did it all for free and never asked a thing in return.  I had always wanted to do something nice for her to say thank you.  So now that I am a photographer, I offered to photograph Christia, her husband Mark, and their son Mason.  And this is what we got . . .

Maddie

I grew up terrified of dogs.  My mother always warned me to never go near a dog I didn’t know as it might bite me.  My father, trying to make light of the situation, would tell me that I was being chased by a trained killer each time a friendly golden retreiver or harmless chihuaua would approach me.  I would be so terrified that I never realized he was trying to help me with my fear until I was much older.  I have now grown to lose most of my fear of dogs and even like them.  So when my friend Bekah’s family got this new puppy, I begged her to bring him over our house so I could take some pics.  How can you not love little Maddie . . .
